Welcome to the May 2025 edition of LHA News
1 May 2025
Welcome to the May edition of LHA News.
Recently, a company director had luxury assets – including a Maserati sportscar – seized for failure to pay penalties following legal action by LHA.
The penalties were imposed by the Supreme Court of Victoria after the director was found to have contravened the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2018 (Vic).
Individuals who flaunt their wealth with luxury items while flouting labour hire and workplace laws are in stark contrast to the conditions of many labour hire workers in Victoria.
By holding people to account for unlawful behaviour, we make it fairer for businesses that do the right thing, as well as reducing the risk of harm to workers.
Elsewhere in this edition, we look at how to spot licence fraud, and a new LHA advertising campaign informing hosts of how they can protect their business and their workers by ensuring they only use licensed providers.
We hope you enjoy this edition.
