Welcome to the July 2025 edition of LHA News

Welcome to the July edition of LHA News.

The start of the 2025-26 financial year brings new opportunities for labour hire providers and host businesses across Victoria.

It’s a good time for providers to update their licence details and to ensure they’re across their legal obligations – including the 1 July minimum wage and award increase and tax and super changes.

We also look back at 2024-25, highlighting the outcomes LHA achieved throughout the year. This includes significant outcomes in high-risk industries, which remain a focus for LHA compliance and enforcement activities.

In horticulture, LHA officers visited farms across Victoria, and worked alongside other agencies and regulators to target non-compliance in the industry.

And in construction, the successful LHA prosecution of five companies and three directors in September 2024 still holds the record for the highest total penalty for breaches of labour hire law in Australia.

Our focus on construction will only grow in 2025-26, with the expected introduction of new regulatory powers for LHA to address criminal behaviour in the industry.

It was a significant year – we delivered expanded compliance and enforcement programs and enhanced our education and engagement activities, while adding almost a thousand new licensees to the industry.

We hope you enjoy this edition.
