Engaging alongside other agencies – June engagement update

The Labour Hire Authority (LHA) program of industry engagement continues in June, with the Hort Connections expo and an information webinar with WorkSafe Victoria.

In May, Labour Hire Licensing Commissioner Steve Dargavel presented a webinar for recently licensed providers and new ABN holders in key labour hire industries.

The session was very well attended, with over 150 attendees taking the opportunity to learn about their obligations, ask questions and engage with the Labour Hire Licensing Commissioner.

The webinar incorporated several interactive elements and attendees gave positive feedback about how engaging the session was.

LHA is expanding its webinar offerings in 2024, providing engagement opportunities for businesses throughout Victoria, across a range of times and days.

LHA also held an information session for providers and hosts at the Bendigo GovHub on 22 May – the event generated rich discussion among attendees and valuable questions and answers.

Details and registrations for all upcoming information sessions are available via the Events page on the LHA website.

Hort Connections expo

LHA is exhibiting at the Hort Connections expo on 4-5 June 2024 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

This event is the largest horticulture conference and trade show in Australia and New Zealand. LHA will be engaging with providers and hosts and providing education about labour hire.

WorkSafe webinar

WorkSafe Victoria will be holding an information webinar for labour hire employers on 20 June. The session will provide information and guidance to assist employers to comply with their premium obligations ahead of a targeted premium compliance project in relation to the labour hire industry.

The webinar will include a presentation by LHA to highlight the link between WorkCover premium compliance and labour hire licence requirements.

Victorian Disability Worker Commission webinar

LHA is partnering with the Victorian Disability Worker Commission (VDWC) to deliver a webinar on 18 June.

The VDWC will discuss all aspects of their work, including notification obligations for disability workers, and employers, prohibition orders and disability worker registration. LHA will present on issues around labour hire in the disability care sector.

The VDWC regulates all disability workers in Victoria to ensure that people with disability have access to safe, quality workers.
