Welcome to the Labour Hire Authority's October e-News 2021

The Labour Hire Authority has worked with labour hire providers to improve their compliance and understanding of workplace laws through the licensing process, information sessions and workplace inspections.

Where we identify breaches of relevant laws, the LHA takes appropriate action including refusing applications, and suspending licences, cancelling licences, or varying licences to include conditions.

The LHA refused 22 more labour hire licence applications over the past month following enquires in connection with a range of issues including noncompliance with wages and modern awards, registration for WorkCover, and more. This follows 32 recent labour hire licence application refusals.

The latest refusals include labour hire providers that previously supplied or intended to supply workers to construction; finance and insurance services; professional, scientific and technical services (including IT); ‘other services’; retail; transport, postal and warehousing; meat manufacturing; horticulture and commercial cleaning.

To date the LHA has granted 39 licences with licence conditions imposed. This includes providers that supply workers to security, public administration and safety; construction; manufacturing; healthcare and social assistance; rental hiring and real estate; financial and insurance services; transport, postal and warehousing; wholesale trade; meat manufacturing; horticulture; and commercial cleaning.
